The Rotary Club of Stonehaven was formed in 1947 with 25 members. It received it's Charter on 29th January 1948. Hugh Ramsey MBE JP was Founder President. The Club has now 50 members, including 6 Lady Members. The Club is twinned with Thirsk Rotary Club and since 1984 reciprocal week-end visits are made to each other's club, annually.

The Club is in  Aberdeenshire, North-East of Scotland with weekly meetings  held in the St Leonard's Hotel (01569-762044) every Wednesday lunchtime at 12.45pm. As the hotel is closing in the near future then as from the 24th September the club will meet at the Heugh Hotel in Stonehaven (see Club Location)

The object of Rotary is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise  and, in particular, to encourage and foster:
1. The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service.
2. High ethical standards in business and professions: the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations: and the dignifying by each Rotarian of their occupation as an opportunity to service society.
3. The application of the ideal of service by each Rotarian to their personal, business and community life.
4. The advancement of International understanding, goodwill and peace through world-fellowship of business and professional persons united in the ideal of service.
